Interfaith week

Last week was interfaith week. In year 4, we were looking at the Jewish religion. We did lots of activities throughout the week to help us learn about Judaism. We made and tasted traditional Jewish food, played Jewish games and even visited a synagogue! Have a look at our pictures from the week.

Ancient Egyptian relief art.

Yesterday we had a go at doing some Ancient Egyptian style relief art. Relief art is 3D art, meaning the pictures stick out. Ancient Egyptians would decorate their tombs with relief art that showed Egyptian Gods and told great stories of the people who were buried there. We had great fun making the paper mulch and then creating our relief art picture.

Information posters.

As part of our Ancient Egyptian and information topics we made information posters today all about an aspect of Ancient Egyptian life. We put lots of information and pictures on the posters and made sure they were colourful and eye catching. Some of us worked together and some of us worked on our own but all of our posters look fantastic!

Ancient Egyptain projects.

Thank you to all of you who have brought in your project so far. They are all looking fantastic and filling up our display nicely! Don't forget you have until 2nd December to get them in.

Life after death; Ancient Egypt style!

Yesterday we looked at the traditions of preparing an Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh's tomb for his journey into the afterlife. Some of us made canopic jars, some of us prepared his personal belongings, some of us drew some egyptian style art for the walls of the tomb and some of us put together a curse to put off grave robbers!

Collecting Data!

Today we did several different surveys around the school. Some of us found out what people's favourite chocolate is. Some surveyed people on their favourite colour. We found that a lot of people love Galaxy chocolate (including Miss Hayward) and favour the colour red. We also discovered that a lot of people love books by Roald Dahl. We then organised this data into tally charts and bar charts. We have been busy!

The importance of forgiveness

This afternoon we receieved a letter from a boy called James. His friend had hurt his feelings and he was very sad about it. He could not understand why he should forgive her, so asked us for help. We each wrote a reply explaining why he should forgive her and the importance of forgiveness. Why is it important to forgive?

Friday's music lesson!

Due to technical difficulties on Friday this wouldn't load!
We thought about the Harvest Festival in our Music lesson. We decided which instrument represented which fruit or vegetable and then put them together to make a musical salad! We had lots of fun!

Talent Talk!

Today in year 4, we were thinking about each others' talents and how we can appreciate them. We found out that we all have a talent and that we should not be jealous of each other, but use our talents to thank God for them! We would love you to tell us what your talents are!

Some more gardening!

Today a lucky few of us, along with some from Mrs Feely's class, got to enjoy the sun whilst gardening.
We put some new plants in our plot including rocket, lettuce and chinese leaves (which will make a lovely salad!) and some pansies to attract the bees! We also planted cabbage, kale and rainbow chard which we are looking forward to cooking and eating soon!
